The Tulsa Regional Chamber is partnering with area higher education institutions, local employers and community organizations to challenge Tulsans to get back in school. The Talent Dividend initiative is a goal to increase the number of certifications and degrees completed by one percentage point over the next five years. Research has consistently shown that higher education improves our economic potential by attracting new businesses and generating jobs.
From now through the year 2018, Oklahoma will have 541,000 job vacancies. Of those, 308,000 will require post-secondary education. Now more than ever, it is vitally important for working adults to receive at least two years of post-secondary education or training. Whether that means receiving a certification from a technical school, finishing an associates or bachelor’s degree, or even going back to school complete a masters, post-secondary education and training is the key to being competitive for those jobs.
